HERA United has signed Daan Louwerse. The centre-back joins from Arizona State University and will play for the Amsterdam club from next season.
Louwerse (25-06-20003) is from Amsterdam and came through the youth ranks at SC Buitenveldert. She then moved to the United States, where she played two seasons for Shawnee State University. She went on to become a mainstay in the back line at Grand Valley State University: in 2023 she started all 24 matches, logged the most minutes on the team and was named to the All-GLIAC First Team. Her most recent stop was Arizona State University, where she gained experience in a Division I programme.
With her height and physicality, Louwerse is strong in one-on-one duels and in defending space. At the same time, she stays composed on the ball and brings discipline and stability to the back line.
Technical Director Mark Coonen on the signing of Louwerse: “Daan is a defender who doesn’t shy away from a duel while keeping her composure. She has shown in America that she can perform at the highest level and take on responsibility. That combination of physical strength and calm on the ball makes her a valuable addition to our defence.”
