The HERA Foundation expands access to football and creates more opportunities for girls and young women aged 6 to 23.
Our projects start locally, and we work directly with girls and young women to create meaningful change. Everything we do is guided by a learning-driven approach: we listen, experiment, collaborate, and scale what works.
We don’t just make a difference for girls, but together with them. Because no one should be left on the sidelines.
During the 2025–2026 season, we are laying the foundations for the HERA Foundation.
On April 12, two groups of girls from our HERA United Foundation partners, Project Fearless and Favela Street, joined us for our home match against Heerenveen.
The girls took part in a football clinic led by our freestyler Jasmijn, before heading to the stands to experience the match.
It was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed the clinic, the warm welcome, the match and the atmosphere.
HERA’s for life!
The HERA United Foundation has received a €100,000 donation from the VriendenLoterij FanFonds. The funding will support the HERA Playground project, where children work together to explore the barriers girls face when it comes to playing football and develop solutions to encourage more girls to get involved in the game.
Guided by the HERA Foundation, primary school children will explore these challenges and take part in a football clinic led by professional players from HERA United.
Thanks to this generous donation from the VriendenLoterij FanFonds, the HERA Foundation can expand the programme across Amsterdam and beyond.
On November 26, ten girls from Amsterdam Nieuw-West took part in a training session with our HERA players Ina Booms and Lizz Forshaw, in collaboration with youth organisation House of Besma.
We saw passionate, enthusiastic girls and happy parents – exactly why we do what we do.
The HERA Foundation creates more opportunities for girls and young women aged 6–23 to access football. We work locally, listen, experiment, and build together to ensure no one is left on the sidelines.
We are the University of Applied Sciences for go-getters. We empower students to reach their full potential through high-quality education and research, equal opportunities for everyone, and a strong focus on social challenges in Amsterdam and beyond.
ONE Jongerenwerk is the go-to place for young people aged 10 to 23 in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. We provide support, inspiration and a safe space where you can be yourself, discover your talents and unlock your full potential.
Driving Social Change
Turning Ideals into Reality
At De Selectie, we don’t believe in simply treating the symptoms. We always look at the bigger picture. After all, challenges rarely affect just one area or department. That’s why we look beyond the boundaries of HR, policy and communications to understand the full picture and create meaningful, lasting change.
The VriendenLoterij, together with the Nationale Postcode Loterij, is part of the Holding Nationale Goede Doelen Loterijen. The Postcode Lottery format is also active in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, and Norway. Together, the Dutch charity lotteries and the lotteries in these countries form the second-largest private donor to charitable causes worldwide.
