HERA United wants to raise the bar in women’s football and compete at the highest level as an independent professional club. The general directors have decided in the KNVB members’ meeting that the admission of a women’s professional club should be made possible. However, the KNVB must present the details regarding the amendment to the clubs at the beginning of 2025.
A historic milestone for women’s football!
When HERA United meets all license requirements, we may officially join professional football. Through the partnership with Telstar, we can build on the foundation that Telstar Women has laid. From the ’25/’26 season, we will take over Telstar Women’s license and can strengthen the Women’s Eredivisie as HERA United.

Football is the largest and fastest-growing team sport for girls and women in the Netherlands. Yet young girls still cannot dream of a career as a professional footballer. At regular professional clubs, women’s football is merely a side matter.
Women’s football is dependent on men’s clubs Women’s football may not exist independently Only 5 professional clubs have a collective labor agreement for women Female professional footballers earn an average of 538 euros per month*
HERA United wants to invest, inspire and accelerate in women’s football. On the field we want to win; off the field we want everyone to win. HERA United wants to raise the bar in women’s football by building an independent, autonomous professional football club for and by women. When the regulations at the KNVB are adjusted, we will have changed the system and we will make history as the first professional club for women in the Netherlands. Through the partnership with Telstar, we can build on the foundation that Telstar Women has laid. From the ’25/’26 season, we will take over Telstar Women’s license and can strengthen the Women’s Eredivisie as HERA United.
We thank the KNVB for their trust and commitment.
