HERA United signs goalkeeper Femke Huntjes

HERA United has signed Femke Huntjes as goalkeeper. The 18-year-old from Limburg joins from Belgian side Sporting Hasselt and will be part of the Amsterdam squad from the 2026–2027 season.

Huntjes, born on 7 January 2008 in Limburg, began her goalkeeping career with the youth setup at Fortuna Sittard, where she spent two and a half seasons, initially with a dual registration in the boys’ competition at Geleen-Zuid. When Fortuna Sittard discontinued their women’s programme a year ago, and no comparable professional women’s club existed in the region, she moved to Sporting Hasselt, where she played in the Belgian league last season. With her move to HERA United, Huntjes returns to Dutch professional football.

Technical Director Mark Coonen on the signing:

“With her experience at Fortuna, her development as a goalkeeper, and her ambition to combine her studies in the Amsterdam area with professional football, she is an excellent addition to HERA. At 18, she already brings considerable quality, and we see every opportunity to help her continue to grow at our level.”

Huntjes on her decision:

“At Telstar, when I was twelve, I took part in a girls’ football event as a goalkeeper for the first time. That’s really where my goal of becoming a professional player began. Now, six years later, I’m back in Amsterdam. I’m incredibly excited to come and play here and to help build professional women’s football with a club that fits perfectly with my motto: stick to my goal.”
