HERA United have signed Dominique Bruinenberg. The midfielder (born 23 January 1993 in Geffen) is a free agent and has signed a contract until the end of the current season.
Bruinenberg began her professional career in the 2011/12 season with Telstar. She then played for ADO Den Haag (where she won the KNVB Cup), Hellas Verona, Sunderland and Everton, before returning to the Netherlands in 2019 to become captain of PEC Zwolle. Two years later, she continued her career in the German Bundesliga with SC Sand. In 2022 she played, once again wearing the captain’s armband, for Telstar, after which she moved to Vienna a year later, where she played for Austria Wien until last summer. Bruinenberg made 26 appearances for various Dutch youth national teams.
Technical advisor Mark Coonen:
“With Do Bruinenberg, HERA United bring in a player who stands for experience, leadership and game intelligence. With her seniority, she is an important addition to the current squad. Her composure and experience in decisive phases of matches are exactly what the team needs to see games through more often.”
Head coach Ed Engelkes is pleased with the winter signing:
“We were looking for someone with experience, and she certainly has that. I know Do from the Dutch competition as a talented player. She has made the most of her career and has also played for Telstar. She is very comfortable on the ball, has an excellent free kick and great game insight. She can act as an extension of the technical staff, both on and off the pitch. At HERA United she can prove herself, and we can benefit from her experience and qualities. It’s great how everything comes together.”
Do Bruinenberg:
“I have followed HERA United over the past few months and have the impression that HERA is professionally organised and very ambitious. That fits perfectly with how I approach my sport. Over the coming months, I hope to contribute to the further development of the team with my footballing qualities and experience. Football, for me, is about winning—if we do that together in the coming months, we can start looking up the table.”
